Pancreatitis can be deadly, as such, this condition needs prompt treatment. It is an inflammation of the pancreas. The pancreas is an important organ that helps with digestion and blood sugar control. Inflammation can cause it to not do its job as effectively. Here is a list of general symptoms:

• Loss of appetite

• Vomiting/diarrhea

• Abnormal posture

• Swollen abdomen

• Lethargy

• Irregular heartbeat

• Difficulty breathing

If your pet has these symptoms for more than a day, get the animal to a vet for an exam. It might not be pancreatitis, but these symptoms should be checked out regardless. While there is no way to prevent pancreatitis 100%, one good way to lower the chances of a flare up is to keep your pet on a low-fat diet. High-fat foods can lead to inflammation.
